Eliza Pepermans
About Eliza Pepermans
Eliza Pepermans gained success as an illustrator for newspapers, magazines, and graphic studios after graduating from LUCA School of Arts in Brussels. Soon she developed a need to draw from her own imagery, and since then she’s been working on her personal practice. Can a simple still life be a worldview? She seems to be testing this holistic approach while portraying everyday objects with bright colours and soft tones, a mildly rude energetic and a hint of tristesse. Outlined contours give the work a graphic feel, but the still lifes move gracefully towards painting. Her first solo exhibition took place in De Studio (Antwerp, 2019), a second at Rufus Gallery (Ghent, 2020) followed. Group shows pursued at Kunsthal (Ghent), Eva Steynen Gallery and Rufus Gallery. Her work has been published in De Morgen, Rekto Verso, Collect Magazine, Openbaar Kunstbezit Vlaanderen, L’Echo, and others. Pepermans teaches at LUCA School of Arts, Antwerp.York Times (US), The Times (UK), De volkskrant (NL), ...
