About Max Kesteloot

Max Kesteloot’s work merges his passion for photography and the urban landscape into a practice defined by the careful study and juxtaposition of visual fragments. Drawing from a vast and eclectic archive of photographs and short films, he searches for what he describes as “things he could have painted.” Staying true to the classical tradition of painting, he uses acrylic and ink pigments on Belgian linen. His work unfolds around the paradox of the apparent absence of a clear subject in the finished image.

Born in Ostend in 1990.
