Ewoud Viane
About Ewoud Viane
Ewoud Viane works with textiles, wooden panels, and epoxy resin in both sculpture and painting. Drawn to the folds and subtle shadow gradations of found colored fabrics, he seeks to push textiles beyond their traditional role in weaving and textile art, exploring their potential within sculpture and painting. Recently, Viane has embarked on a series of botanical paintings, paying homage to the tradition of botanical illustration. Using soft pastels, gouache, and cotton rope, he honors often-overlooked masters while reimagining their work through his distinctive approach. Through his signature technique, Viane transforms source material into a contemporary, enigmatic form of still-life painting.
