Per Kesselmar
About Per Kesselmar
Per Kesselmar is a contemporary painter who studied at the Valand Art Academy in Göteborg from 1984 to 1986 before attending the Academy of Fine Arts in Stockholm from 1986 to 1990. His paintings aren't created with the traditional oil-on-canvas technique, but by applying oil paint to different metals (such as iron, aluminium, brass, etc.) in up to forty layers. As such, Kesselmar creates veritable colour spaces with a remarkable depth effect. His works offer a playful approach to reality, and a sense of the present -or as the artist states: the sublime present and the sublime reality of which we all are part of as humans.
During his career to date, the artist has already been awarded with several important scholarships and promotional prizes, the most recent being the famous Swedish Sten A Olsson Kulturstipendiat which enabled him a solo exhibition at Kunstmuseum Göteborg. The artist lives and works in Stockholm.
Born in 1960.
