Art Antwerp 2025

The curation in the Delen Private Bank lounge at Art Antwerp 2025 presents a selection from the private collection “DMDC”. With this collaboration with esteemed private collectors, Delen Private Bank once again underscores its enduring passion for art and its commitment to the art world. We are pleased to invite the collectors to share their thoughts:

Over the nearly half-century that we have been involved with art, as enthusiasts and as collectors, it has been an unceasing source of joy for us. In a busy household and with two demanding careers, it was the oxygen that allowed us to breathe more freely. It brought us beauty and poetry, but just as often—and equally beneficial—confusion, a suspension of understanding, a postponement of fulfillment. At times, it used humor to steer us onto a different track. At other moments, it was moving, challenging, surprising, or disconcerting. It conjured, comforted, and provoked. And above all: it gave us a purpose beyond ourselves. For collecting art has less to do with wanting to possess than with the desire to dwell in the presence of the work. Collecting art is the sustaining of the work’s epiphany.

Those who collect also enjoy showing their collection, in the hope of sharing something of the fascination that grips them. That Delen Bank offers us the opportunity to do so at Art Antwerp is something we consider a great privilege. The bank was given carte blanche in selecting what is shown here. Its team chose works by the Belgians Philippe Van Snick, Paul Gees, Johan Creten, and Werner Cuvelier; by the Portuguese artist Carlos Nogueira; and by the Lebanese artist Charbel-Joseph Boutros. A combination that also refreshes our own gaze and makes us realize that what has been part of our collection since the very beginning has not lost a single spark of its magic.
