About the exhibition in Namur

The exhibition in the office of Namur is a collaboration with the young artist Mathilde Nardone, who anchors her work in a research-driven, photographic approach using a scanner.

Mathilde draws inspiration from the mines. Her maternal grandparents, who immigrated from Italy, came to work in the mines. She finds inspiration in her grandmother's stories and in the encounters she has with former miners or their descendants. While exploring the mines, she observes how nature—especially plants and flowers—gradually reclaims these sites. To her, the mountains of mining waste, become true open-air composts of beauty.
