About the exhibition in Roeselare

The exhibition at the Roeselare office is a collaboration with Maurice Verbaet, an Antwerp-based collector renowned for his private collection primarily dedicated to Belgian post-war abstract art.

Together with Maurice Verbaet, Delen Private Bank presents the oeuvre of Pierre Célice, a French painter born in 1932 who passed away in 2019.

The exhibition primarily showcases his work from the 1980s and 1990s, characterized by his distinctive visual language: dynamic, colorful, and playfully simple. Célice developed a plastic vocabulary built around repeated motifs inspired by patterns found in wallpaper and textiles. He enriched his palette with vibrant colors such as lemon yellow, ocean blue, cadmium red, and Islamic green, always used in pure, unblended tones.

To maintain the autonomy and vitality of these colors he employed the technique of papier découpé, affixing painted segments onto the canvas. This approach gave rise to a unique universe beyond figuration and abstraction: a sparkling, lively, and minimalist vision of color and form.
