About Maurice Verbaet Gallery

The Maurice Verbaet Center is an independent center of expertise for Belgian postwar modern art, named after the driving force behind the project: the Antwerp art collector Maurice Verbaet. With thousands of outstanding works by various Belgian artists from the late nineteenth and twentieth centuries, this rare collection is the largest of its kind and therefore highly representative of this fascinating chapter in Belgian art history. With a particular focus on the period 1945–1975, 'Les Trentes Glorieuses' form the central thread of the collection, complemented where relevant by more recent and contemporary works.

The MCV is passionately committed to preserving, studying, promoting, and disseminating this Belgian artistic heritage. The in-house restoration team consists of specialized professionals who treat and conserve the artworks with great care. Through his project, Maurice Verbaet also aims to create a platform that brings together a network of passionate individuals united by a shared ambition: to promote the post-war Belgian art on the international stage and to keep it at the core of the contemporary artistic dialogue.

Until last year, the MCV was also active in the Belgian gallery scene, but today it primarily engages through its presence at art fairs and through diverse projects. The MCV nevertheless maintains a physical base in both Antwerp and Brussels, where it is open by appointment only.
